Week 6. Blessings of an upset Stomach.

Hey! How is it going? It was a good week this week. Some cool things were we had exchanges this week and I went with our district leader Elder Rassmussen. It turns out he grew up in Highland, he built Creekside park, the park that I spent a lot of time at, and we used to do a lot of the same stuff before we came out here. He is a great guy and was a lot of fun to do exchanges with.

A cool experience we had was we had an appointment set and the people were actually there and waiting for us. They gave us a drink called Mahuo and it actually hurt my stomach and was nasty, but I drank all of it. The lesson was awful, and they got stuck on ghosts haunting houses. But that isn't the cool part. The drink hurt my stomach, so we were walking slow to the next appointment and we saw this lady walking the other way, so I said “Makadii” which means how are you and we both walked on. But she turned around and yelled for us to come back so we did. She wanted to know who we were and what we were doing so we told her. Then she said she found this book with a weird name and it was like the bible, so she stacked it up on 5 bibles and opened it and prayed and said God if you want me to read this book then let me know. The next day she was walking down the road and some white guy spoke shona saying “makadii” to her, so she thought this must be a sign to my answer, so I will find out about them. So, we pulled out the Book of Mormon and she said that was it. We Told her to read it and gave her the info for the missionaries in her area in town. And we wouldn't have met her if I didn't walk slowly with an upset stomach.

Another cool thing is we went to the Great Zimbabwe. so that was cool, and I will try to get some pictures out next week.

SOTW in Mosiah it says don't run faster than you have strength. So, make sure you have the strength to run fast. Take it literally all you runners and take it spiritually everyone. Make sure you have strength to run fast.

Have a great week!

Week 12. First Mission Christmas!

I am out of time this week sorry, but the highlight was I got to talk to my family. Everyone is in Kamusha now, so the work was a little slow, and the sun was insanely hot this week so that was not great. We also have no food and no money because of the allotment period so we are starting the new year off strong! SOTW is 3 Nephi 15  Sorry about the short email! Elder Williams Update from Elder Williams Family: It was so fun to get the opportunity to talk with our amazing missionary! We started the morning off a little worried that we would not be able to talk with him because the Elder's were running about an hour and a half late in talking with their families. But we got our hour to talk to him! Elder Williams started off with trying to teach us the Shona that he has been learning. He told us all about his haircut he had a few days earlier. He seemed to still be in quite a bit of shock that his hair was that short. He told us that he is living in a house w...

Week 5. Blessed this Mama's field.

So, this week was good. We have a lot of success finding people, this last week we found 30 new people to teach with return appointments, the problem is they are never home for the return appointments. I ate a lot of sadza, tried to learn more Shona and taught a lot of lessons. So, it was a good week. Some things I will highlight about Zimbabwe is one the driving here is freaky, there is a system but no law. You can go as fast as you want, pass whoever you want and as long as you are on the left side of the road, you're good. There are no buses to go around town, they have little vans called convoy’s and you just cram as many people as you can into them and have some guys hang out the windows and you drive across town. So those are fun to ride in. I had to teach Elder Owuor what a sandwich was for lunch one day. I have to ration my water or else we will run out, as a matter of fact we are out of water right now. We usually run out at the end of the day, so I have to br...

Week 8. Put your shoulder to the wheel.

This week was another good week. Some interesting things were, we had zone conference this week, so that was fun. Nobody told me that I was going on exchanges with the Zone leader Elder Black so one morning he came out and said you ready for comp. study? And we ended up going on exchanges that day.  Last week when we were in Bulawayo, we were driving to the mission office at night and we saw five drunk guys trying to push a 30ft. bus down the road with cigarettes in their hands. We had 8 missionaries in the van, so we got out and helped push, we ended up pushing it about a quarter mile or more down the road. And Elder Riggs was following us in the van blasting put your shoulder to the wheel. So that was fun, hot, and sweaty.  This week the seventh day Adventists have been determined to teach us and convert us to the sabbath on Saturday. And the first time we met one who started whipping out bible verses and he even had me thinking that we were wrong, but...
